This room marks the beginning of three areas dedicated to military operations, and in particular, to Cassino’s strategic role as the guardian of the road to Rome. In this region 12 nationalities fought: the most important units that participated in the battle arrays are listed on a large panel. The voices of several veterans recounting what they witnessed may be heard on headphones located on two monitors.

A large panel portraying the main military protagonists who led troops in the region is situated laterally. Opposite, two panels show the different typologies of weapons used and the quantitative dimension of the battle, which was one of the bloodiest in the Second World War. The flags of the Armies, together with their respective national anthems, move majestically side by side on an immense screen made up of the shapes of hundreds of white soldiers.
