The panel shows pictures of the 36 villages of the martyrology region, demonstrating a common pain and devastation, with percentages of the resulting destruction. A bay branch symbolizes the tribute to this region.
In the next room, entitled “THE STONES OF MEMORY” A scenographic and artistic reconstruction of the ruins recreates the atmosphere of the “end of the world”. The sense of devastation is described by a heavy, deep vibration, sometimes opening with a crescendo.
The attacks were followed by civil and moral devastation.
The videos break the immobility of the ruins and show images of life going on inexorably and in spite of everything. In front of these ruins, we can read the famous verses of the poet T.S. Elliot, “scratched” on the wall. Waste and void. Waste and void. And darkness was upon the face of the deep.
